Queen Margrethe II of Denmark – 50th Regent’s Anniversary

On the occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 50th regent’s anniversary, January 14th 2022, I have designed a tablecloth with 50 daisies.

The two patterns show a total of 10 daisies. Each daisy is embroidered 5 times.

The finished size is approx. 61 x 61 cm on 8 threaded linen canvas. Dark blue and golden threads are used.

Embroidered with contour stitches and cross stitches.

The patterns are free for you to use.

Enjoy!

Paper Snakes

Paper snakes are a favorite Christmas decoration in Denmark. We know them as “musetrapper” (mouse stairs).

Napkin (21½ x 21½ cm): Embroidered with contour stitches on 8 thread linen canvas using one thread in the needle.

Bookmark (26 x 5 cm): Embroidered with cross stitches and back stitches on 8 thread linen canvas using one thread in the needle.

I have used flora-cotton, but any yarn and color can be used.

Foliage

One of the fallen leaves of autumn. DMC Pearl Cotton and remnants of flora-cotton thread. Embroidered on 8 threaded linen canvas, finished size 30 x 30 cm. Contour stitches are used, with a single thread in the needle. The outline of the leaf is embroidered with three rows of the coarse DMC Pearl Cotton. The background is embroidered with 5 remnants of flora-cotton. Use whatever colors you like.

Fantasy Flowers

Flowers picked from two bouquets have been the starting point for this tablecloth’s fantasy flowers. Finished size 65 x 40 cm. Embroidered on 8 threaded linen canvas.

The flowers are drawn directly on the fabric, and the outline is embroidered with 2 threads in the needle. It is embroidered with flora-cotton from fru zippe.

The structure of the flowers emerges when embroidering with 1 thread in the needle with whole and half cross stitches. That is, each flower is embroidered with just one color.

Angel 2021

Embroidered on linen canvas (8 threads per cm.), with full cross stitches and contour stitches.

Threads used:

  • 341 flora-cotton from fru zippe (or 310 from DMC)
  • E 168 SILVER from DMC

Finished size approx. 35 x 55 cm.

Optional: I have pulled threads out of the fabric to create a lace-like effect from edge to edge.

Flower

With somewhat impaired, gray and colorless vision, I still got an embroidery put together. Drew an outline using a template with ballpoint pen directly on linen canvas (8 threads per. cm). Next, I could make a frame with cross stitches in double thread. I filled the frames with single thread cross stitches. My son helped me choose the colors of the yarn. He was good at interpreting my ideas and we got the right yarn numbers put together (thanks for the help!). So it became a “winter of embroidery” anyway 🙂

Streams

This runner is made with cross stitches, half stitches and contour stitches on linen (10 threads per centimeter). Made with flora cotton thread (fru zippe). Finishes size about 110 x 25 cm.

You can repeat the pattern in the direction of the arrow to match the desired length.

Christmas Trees

Made with Ombré yarn no. 53 from DMC. I have cut the yarn into lengths so that the pieces change from dark to light. The dark end of the yarn begins at the bottom of each strip in the pattern so that the light end of the yarn ends at the top of the trees. The stitches are contour stitches and half cross stitches. Stitched with a partial thread in the needle on 10 thread linen canvas 10 threads per cm. The runner’s finished size is approx. 69 x 23 cm

Angel 2020

Runner stitched using cross- and back-stitches on linen, 10 threads/cm. Size approx. 28 x 102 cm.

The pattern was created from a black and white sketch, using a PC. Some of the initial sketch lines were edited a bit, to make them better suited for back-stitches. The light grey stitches help to make the pattern more clear, and the blue stitches gives the pattern form. The dark silver stitches are added along the edges for more detail.
